WindENG was a high school wind energy / wind engineering competition that ran from 2007 to 2014. It was hosted at the School of Engineering, University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
Andrea Woon-Fat, John Phillips and Warren Stiver created and ran WindENG over its duration. WindENG was made possible as a result of Stiver’s NSERC Chair in Design Engineering. Many volunteers and sponsors made the event possible and a success.
The enthusiasm of students and teachers from across Ontario’s high schools really made WindENG a success story. A typical year attracted nearly 40 teams and 200-300 students to Guelph for competition day. Teams designed, developed, tested and improved their designs for several weeks or months in preparation with many high schools holding internal events involving many more students.
